Ramblers Volunteer With Lakeview Pantry

The Loyola men's volleyball team spent two days volunteering with Lakeview Pantry.

CHICAGO (Dec. 13, 2021) – The Loyola University Chicago men's volleyball team strives to not only be great student-athletes, but also be great members of their community. With this in mind, the team decided to commit two days to volunteering to Lakeview Pantry.

On Monday, Dec. 6, and Thursday, Dec. 9, members of the men's volleyball team traveled to Lakeview Pantry's new location on Hubbard Street to fill boxes and organize the shelves where the organization stores a lot of its dried goods.

During this time, the team worked on an assembly line with other volunteers to put dried goods into boxes that are available for families in need. They loaded 15 pallets, which equates to 825 boxes. Once they finished filling boxes, the team prepared for the next group to come in, organizing the dry goods, building boxes for others to fill, and cleaning the facility as the organization got ready for another shift during this busy time of year.

Lakeview Pantry has been in Chicago for more than 50 years and help members of the city with food insecurity. They also provide mental wellness services and social services for those in need. As their motto states, they work to create "Hope for Tomorrow" through these various services serving all zip codes within Chicago.
