CHICAGO (Dec. 7, 2021) – The post-season awards continue to come in for the Loyola University Chicago men's soccer team. Four members of the team finished with United Soccer Coaches All-Region accolades. The Ramblers are in the West Division and secured two members on the first team and two on the second team.
Earning spots on the All-West First Team for Loyola is senior
Billy Hency and redshirt junior
Michael Hong. Hency had another standout year for the Ramblers, rounding out the 2021 season as the Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year and Forward of the Year while grabbing a position on the All-MVC First Team. Hong, on the other hand, has been key for Loyola's backline, playing every minute this season and helping the team to five shutouts on his way to All-MVC First Team honors.
Making their way on the United Soccer Coaches All-West Region Second Team was senior
Giann Magno and junior
Marc Torrellas. The two midfielders were instrumental for Loyola on both offense and defense. The two knew how to put pressure on the opposing team's defense, registering a combined 35 shots. Along with that, the two helped tremendously on defense, only allowing 18 goals all season while helping the team earn five shutouts on their way to receiving All-MVC First Team honors.
These four are now eligible for the United Soccer Coaches All-America team. The recipients of that award will be announced on Thursday, Dec. 9.
