Tobi Alabi Featured In MVC Scholar-Athlete Spotlight

Senior jumper pursuing degree in Marketing

CHICAGO (March 19, 2021) – Tobi Alabi (Hinsdale, Ill./Hinsdale Central/UIC), a senior on the Loyola University Chicago men's track & field team, has been highlighted as one of two featured student-athletes in this week's Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete Spotlight.

Alabi wasted no time in putting his name on the Rambler record boards in his debut season with the Maroon & Gold in 2019-20.  The Hinsdale, Ill. product unleashed a personal-best leap of 48-00.75 (14.65m) in the triple jump at the Meyo Invitational, moving to fourth all-time at Loyola in the event.  Alabi went on to score for the Maroon & Gold at the 2020 MVC Indoor Championships, finishing sixth (47-01.50; 14.36m).

During the 2021 indoor campaign, Alabi earned a runner-up finish (45-07.00; 13.89m) at the Indiana State Invitational.

In the classroom, Alabi boasts a 3.61 cumulative grade-point average as a Marketing major in Loyola's Quinlan School of Business.  A recipient of the MVC Commissioner's Academic Excellence Award, he was named an MVC Scholar-Athlete Team honoree in 2019-20.

To qualify for the MVC Scholar-Athlete Spotlight, student-athletes must carry a cumulative GPA of 3.20, complete at least one academic year at a Valley institution, and must be at least a sophomore in academic standing.  In addition to academic qualifications, student-athletes are evaluated on their campus involvement and community service.
