Lipscomb (9-7) used an eight-run sixth inning to break a 1-1 tie and earn a 9-1 victory over Loyola University Chicago (2-9) this afternoon in the final game of the Purple & Gold Challenge.
How It Happened
Lipscomb drew first blood in the bottom of the first when Olivia Ward's sacrifice fly plated Amy Vetula for a 1-0 lead.
Loyola knotted the score in the top of the third when
Jocelyn Currie scored on a Bison throwing error.
Lipscomb broke the game open in the sixth, scoring eight runs, with the big blows coming in the form of a pair of two-run singles off the bats of Elise Shewmaker and Presley Leebrick.
A Look at the Numbers
