Billy Hency Named CoSIDA Academic All-District

Junior midfielder was named MVC Player of the Year

CHICAGO (June 3, 2021) – Loyola University Chicago junior Billy Hency (Fenton, Mo./Rockwood Summit) has been named a First Team Academic All-District selection by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), the organization announced on Thursday.  The third Rambler in as many years to earn the honor, Hency will now advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot.

A 5-foot-10 midfielder, Hency is coming off an outstanding junior campaign this past spring.  He finished the year with six goals and four assists across nine appearances en route to being named the Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year in addition to taking home the MVC Midfielder of the Year award and a First Team All-MVC nod.  Hency was also tabbed a First Team All-West Region honoree by the United Soccer Coaches.

Out of Fenton, Mo., Hency, who was named a First Team MVC Scholar-Athlete Team selection this past April, holds a 3.73 cumulative grade-point average as a supply chain management major.

To be nominated for the CoSIDA Academic All-District Teams, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution. Nominated athletes must have participated in at least 50 percent of their team's games.
