Loyola Men’s Golf Sets 2021-22 Schedule

Ramblers captured first MVC title in program history last spring

CHICAGO (August 18, 2021) – Just months removed from leading the Ramblers to their first Missouri Valley Conference championship in program history, Loyola University Chicago head men's golf coach Erik Hoops unveiled the Maroon & Gold's schedule for the upcoming 2021-22 season on Wednesday.  Hoops' crew will face a packed 11-event slate that concludes with the Missouri Valley Conference Championship in late April.

"We're really excited to get started with this year's schedule," Hoops said.  "I think it's a great mix of big time events with Indiana, Chambers Bay, and Purdue being added to a strong MVC schedule.  We're going to have our chances against some really highly ranked programs, while also seeing where we stack up against our conference foes on some courses we've had a lot of success on over the last couple of years.  It will serve as great preparation for us to defend our MVC championship next April."

Loyola will open its fall schedule with back-to-back trips to the state of Indiana, beginning the season at the Hoosier Collegiate Invitational, September 5-6, in Bloomington, Ind. ahead of a visit to Muncie, Ind. for the Earl Yestingsmeier Invitational, September 17-18.  The month wraps up with the Zach Johnson Invitational, September 27-28, in Des Moines, Iowa, an event in which the Maroon & Gold took home the team title at during the 2019-20 season.

October commences with the Ramblers heading south to Jonesboro, Ark. for the Bubba Barnett Intercollegiate, October 11-12.  Loyola will close out the fall portion of its campaign at the Flyer Invitational, October 18-19, in Kettering, Ohio.

Following just under a four-month break from competition, Loyola will lift the lid on its spring campaign in Dade City, Fla. at the Earl Yestingsmeier Match Play, February 7-8.  Another trip to the warm weather awaits a month later, March 11-12, as the Ramblers set their sights on Boulder City, Nev. for the Jackrabbit Invitational.  A visit to the Twin Oaks Intercollegiate, hosted by MVC rival Missouri State, March 21-22, will provide Loyola with an excellent opportunity to see where it stands against a host of Valley foes as the season hits its home stretch.

The month of April opens with the Redhawk Invitational, April 4-5, in University Place, Wash., which will take place at Chambers Bay Golf Course, site of the 2015 U.S. Open.  Loyola will wrap up the regular season portion of its schedule April 9-10 at the Boilermaker Invitational in West Lafayette, Ind.

The Ramblers will look to defend their MVC title when they join their eight league counterparts at the Country Club of Paducah in Paducah, Ky. for the 2022 Missouri Valley Conference Men's Golf Championship, April 24-26.

Set to begin his seventh season in charge in Rogers Park, Hoops welcomes back an experienced core of seven letterwinners from last season's team that made only the program's second NCAA Regionals appearance.  That group is led by returning All-MVC picks Devin Johnson and Timmy Crawford
