Timmy Crawford carded his second round in the 60s in as many events as the Loyola University Chicago men's golf team wrapped up a fourth-place finish on the final day of the Zach Johnson Invitational in Des Moines, Iowa.

The Maroon & Gold closed play at the Glen Oaks Club (par 71, 6,898 yards) with a final-round 295 to finish the 54-hole event with a team score of 864 (284-285-295), outdistancing Missouri Valley Conference foe Southern Illinois (290-289-288=867) by three strokes. Drake (291-279-283=853) and North Dakota State (285-282-286=853) shared the team crown, while the Salukis' Matthis Besard cruised to individual medalist honors with a 10-under-par 203 (66-68-69).

"I obviously wish we could have had a little better finish today, but it's hard to be too upset with a top-five finish," Loyola head men's golf coach
Erik Hoops stated. "Unfortunately, we just didn't quite get any momentum today, so we're headed home without any hardware, but this week really showed the potential of our team. Drake and Valparaiso are both really solid MVC programs and we know we can play with them if we bring our A games."

Crawford dazzled on the final day of play in The Hawkeye State, registering a team-best four birdies en route to a three-under-par 68. The Arlington Heights, Ill. native's final-round effort saw him climb into a tie for 14
th place with a three-over-par 216 (73-75-68).

Graduate student
Devin Johnson finished as the top Rambler on the individual leaderboard. Johnson, out of Geneva, Ill., turned in a 76 to finish with a one-over-par 214 (71-67-76), earning a share of 11
th place. Junior
Dylan Ellis landed in the top 20 alongside Johnson and Crawford, tying for 16
th with a four-over-par 217 (68-72-77) following a final-round 77.

Redshirt senior
Tyler Anderson turned in a three-over-par 74 to tie for 43
rd at 223 (73-76-74), while junior
Zach Walsh rounded out the Rambler starting five on the day with a 79 to bring his total to 222 (72-71-79) and finish as part of a tie for 35
th.

Competing as an individual, graduate student
Ryan Magee posted his top effort of the past two days, shooting a two-over-par 73 that was highlighted by an ace on the par-three 16
th hole. Magee finished tied for 74
th with a 231 (78-80-73).

"We'll try to clean up some stuff and finish our fall season well these final two weeks," Hoops added. "We're always excited for the next challenge."

Loyola plays in its penultimate event of the fall portion of its 2021-22 schedule October 11-12 when it heads to Jonesboro, Ark. for the Bubba Barnett Intercollegiate.
