Loyola Travels To Eastern Illinois For Sunday Matinée

Tipoff Set For 2 p.m. at Lantz Arena

CHICAGO (November 18, 2022) – Following a strong performance in its home opener, Loyola University Chicago (1-2) will head to Eastern Illinois (3-0) on Sunday. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. inside Lantz Arena and the game will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
 
Maya Chandler leads three Ramblers averaging double figures in scoring, as the junior guard is coming off a 20-point performance against Virginia. Chandler averages 15.7 points per game entering Sunday's contest, while Anna Brown (11.7 ppg) and Sitori Tanin (11.0 ppg) have been steady scoring contributors through three games. Fresh off her first career double-double, Tanin leads the squad in rebounding (6.3 rpg) through the early portion of the campaign. Sam Galanopoulos has dished a team-high 10 assists.
 
Last Time Out
Loyola led majority of the way against Virginia after an early 7-0 run sparked the home crowd. Neither team led by more than nine points as the Ramblers grabbed their largest lead of the night in the third quarter, 38-31. However, the Cavaliers turned it on late with a 10-0 run and held on down the stretch in the final period. Loyola dished out a season-high 16 assists on a season-high 24 made field goals, while limiting UVA to 0 for 10 from beyond the arc.
 
Chandler finished one point shy of her career-best, while reaching double figures for the third consecutive outing. She shot 7 of 10 from the field with a pair of 3-pointers, four boards and three assists. Tannin grabbed a career-high 12 rebounds and recorded her first career double-double with 11 points. She also added a team-high four assists.
Making her first collegiate start, Sophia Nolan contributed her best outing of the young season with a career-high 12 points on 4-of-11 shooting, along with two assists.
 
Series Stuff
Loyola leads the all-time series 10-9 with four consecutive wins over Eastern Illinois. The Ramblers won 58-48 in last year's matchup at Gentile Arena and recorded a 16-point victory in the last trip to Charleston three years ago. Galanopoulos led the Ramblers against the Panthers in the matchup last season, scoring a team-high 13 points with five rebounds and four assists. The Panthers have claimed five of nine matchups against the Ramblers at Lantz Arena.
 
Scouting Eastern Illinois
The Panthers are off to a 3-0 start for the second straight year after Wednesday's 73-67 road win over Valparaiso. Ohio Valley Conference Preseason Player of the Year Lariah Washington put up 33 points in the victory as the senior averages 21.7 points through three games. Forwards Macy McGlone and Morgan Litwiller both average a team-best 7.3 rebounds per contest. Eastern Illinois has registered a 7-2 record in non-conference home games over the past two seasons.
