Loyola Closes Road Swing With Friday Afternoon Tilt At Harvard

Ramblers, Crimson to meet for first time

CHICAGO (November 23, 2022) - Loyola University Chicago (2-3) hopes to get back on track on Friday afternoon when it closes a stretch of five straight games away from home by visiting Harvard (4-1) for a post-Thanksgiving clash.  Tip-off from inside Lavietes Pavilion in Cambridge, Mass. is scheduled for 1 p.m. (CT).

Last Time Out
Loyola committed a season-high 27 turnovers as it dropped a 67-51 decision to No. 24 Texas A&M in its final game of the Myrtle Beach Invitational on Sunday in Conway, S.C.  Philip Alston paced the Ramblers, leading all scorers with 16 points in addition to nine rebounds, a block, and two steals. Jayden Dawson continued his impressive play off the bench, chipping in nine points, all of which came from beyond the three-point arc.

Loyola/Harvard – The Series
Friday's post-holiday clash will mark the first meeting on the hardwood between Loyola and Harvard.  The Ramblers hold a 9-3 (.750) record against current members of the Ivy League, most recently dropping a 78-53 decision to Cornell as part of the NIT Season Tip-Off in Queens, N.Y.  Justin Cerasoli paced the Maroon & Gold in the defeat with 11 points.

Despite not meeting before, the programs share a unique link.  Current first-year Crimson assistant coach Larry Farrmer is the son of Larry Farmer, Jr., who spent six seasons (1998-2004) as head coach at Loyola.

Scouting Harvard
Harvard enters Friday's matchup winners of its last three games, a stretch punctuated by a 69-59 victory over Sienna this past Sunday at Lavietes Pavilion that saw the Crimson run its record to 4-1 on the year.

Tabbed fourth in the Ivy League Preseason Poll, 16th-year head coach Tommy Amaker's team has been led early on this season by the duo of Chris Ledlum (18.8 ppg) and Sam Silverstein (12.0 ppg).  Ledlum is coming off a week in which he averaged 23.5 points across two Crimson victories en route to being named the Ivy League Player of the Week.  Chisom Okpara (9.2 ppg) also impressed during the stretch, putting up 13.0 ppg and 9.0 rpg as he took home Ivy League Rookie of the Week honors.

Up Next
Loyola returns to the Gentile Arena hardwood for the first time in over three weeks when it hosts Central Arkansas on Wednesday, November 30 to open a three-game homestand.  Tip-off against the Bears is slated for 8 p.m. in a contest that will be televised on NBC Sports Chicago+.
