DADE CITY, Fla. (February 7, 2022) – The Loyola University Chicago men's golf team officially opened its spring season today, taking on Missouri Valley Conference rival Drake in the quarterfinals of the Earl Yestingsmeier Match Play in Dade City, Fla.

The Ramblers and Bulldogs battled to a 3.0-3.0 tie on the South Course at the Lake Jovita Country Club (par 72; 7,153 yards). Drake advanced via a margin of victory tiebreaker. Loyola's consolation-round matchup with DePaul was suspended due to darkness.

Timmy Crawford (two-up) led the way for the Maroon & Gold, each picking up victories in their head-to-head matchups.

Loyola will wrap up its stay at the Earl Yestingsmeier Match Play on Tuesday. The Ramblers and Blue Demons are scheduled to conclude their matchup beginning at 6:30 a.m. (CT), with final-round action to follow at 7:30 a.m. (CT).
