Although we are only three months into 2022, it has already been quite a year.
Â
In February, we were proud to premiere the critically acclaimed documentary,Â
The Loyola Project, which was co-written and narrated by Lucas Williamson from our men's basketball program, and chronicles the role of the 1963 Loyola team in the civil rights movement. In addition to airing on CBS Sports Network and being shown at several college campuses nationwide, including here at Loyola, a condensed version of the documentary can be seen on CBS on April 2 at 12 p.m. CT. The full-length film will also be available for streaming on Paramount+ beginning this weekend.
Â
Also in February, we were able to provide a first-class experience for our student-athletes when we co-hosted the Missouri Valley Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships for the first time at Gately Park.
Â
Men's basketball continued to be a presence on the national stage, earning a third NCAA Tournament berth in the last five years and making back-to-back trips to the Big Dance for the first time in nearly 60 years. Over the last five years, Loyola basketball has entrenched itself among the nation's top programs and is one of only seven NCAA Division I teams to have won 20 or more games in each of the last five seasons.Â
Â
Our men's volleyball program finds itself right in the thick of the race for the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (MIVA) regular-season title as it looks to earn a NCAA Tournament bid for the first time since 2015. In addition, our softball team is off to a strong start and after playing the first two months of the season away from Chicago, will finally play its home opener this weekend (April 2-3) versus Evansville, while our golf and outdoor track and field programs are also in competition.
Â
We look forward to seeing you on campus to cheer on our spring sport programs as they vie for conference titles.Â
Â
Thank you for your continued support of Loyola Athletics. Go Ramblers!
