CHICAGO (April 26, 2022) -- The Loyola University Chicago softball team is back in action today as they take on the Beacons of Valparaiso University in a Missouri Valley Conference game. The last time these two teams faced each other was in a double header in Indiana. Both teams took a game in the high-scoring games.
LAST TIME OUT
The Ramblers hosted the Missouri State Bears over the weekend, playing a three-game series in the Valley. The Bears, who are currently the No. 2 team in the MVC, took two of these games, but Loyola was able to steal one away. They also took a second game against the Bears as well.
BATTLING THE BEACONS
Valparaiso University is coming off its most recent weekend series against Drake University, where thee Beacons lost all three games. This team is lead by Head Coach Amanda Eberhart, who is in her first season with the Beacons.
The Beacons are a very strong team when it comes to making double plays. The team ranks fourth in the Valley in this category with .33 per game.
Addi Weaver is a great asset for the Beacons behind the plate. She is third in the Valley when it comes to catching people stealing, stopping 11 runners so far this season.
Senior Peyton Moeder is the most influential for Valpo's offense. She leads the team with a .311 batting average this season, registering 21 runs on 37 hits.
The Beacons' pitching staff has a combined 5.24 ERA. The most successful pitcher for Valpo is junior Easton Seib, who has pitched the most innings and boasts a 4.69 ERA. Seib has the most strikeouts on the team with 55.
Senior Katie Beckenmeyer is the best defender for Valparaiso. She has a .990 fielding percentage with 194 putouts and five assists with only two errors on the season.
