Zach Walsh and
Timmy Crawford led the way for the Loyola University Chicago men's golf team as the Ramblers opened play at the Boilermaker Invitational in West Lafayette, Ind. today.

Loyola finished the first 36 holes of action at the Ackerman-Allen Golf Course (par 72; 7,546 yards) with a team score of 611 (311-300) that has it as part of a tie for 12
th place, alongside Butler (312-299=611).Â

Illinois (284-277=561) owns a slim one-shot edge over host Purdue (284-278=562) at the top of the team standings, while the Fighting Illini's Adrein Dumont de Chassart fired a 10-under-par 134 (69-65) to race into the lead in the chase for individual medalist honors.

After an hour delay to the start of play due to frigid temperatures, Walsh put together the top two-round effort of the day for the Maroon & Gold. The Chesterfield, Mo. native carded a three-over-par 147 (74-73) that has him as part of a tie for 28
th place. Crawford is three shots back, tied for 40
th, following a 150 (79-71) that was highlighted by a second-round one-under-par 71, the low round of the day for Loyola.

Ryan Magee turned in a 157 (77-80) to move into a tie for 64
th, while redshirt senior
Tyler Anderson finds himself tied for 70
th following a 159 (81-78). Making his 2021-22 debut, junior
Nolan Doherty resides in 80
th with a 162 (84-78) that included an 18-hole career-best 78 during second-round play.
