CHICAGO (May 25, 2022) – With the NBA Draft a month away, former Loyola University Chicago guard
Lucas Williamson (Chicago, Ill./Whitney Young) will continue his workouts for teams when he showcases his skills for the Los Angeles Lakers, Phoenix Suns, Utah Jazz and Sacramento Kings in the coming days. This spring, the 6-foot-4 guard has performed for the Milwaukee Bucks, Boston Celtics, Atlanta Hawks and Memphis Grizzlies.
Â
Twice named Missouri Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Year during his collegiate career, Williamson finished his Loyola tenure as the program's all-tine winningest player (124) and helped the Ramblers to four postseason appearances, including three NCAA tournaments.Â
Â
This season, Williamson took his offensive game to another level, averaging 13.7 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.3 steals per game, while starting all 33 contests. He was even more impressive in Valley action, where he hiked his scoring output to 16.3 ppg, earning both First Team All-MVC and National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) First Team All-District 16 recognition.
Â
A three-time MVC All-Defensive Team selection, Williamson finished his collegiate career with 1,333 points and 574 rebounds and is one of only 23 players in program history to total over 1,000 points and 500 boards. He ranks second in Loyola history with 223 three-point field goals made and 190 steals.
Â
Loyola went 25-8 in 2021-22 and won its third MVC tournament crown in the last five years, while also making its third trip to the NCAA Tournament since 2018.Â
