CHICAGO – Loyola Chicago athletics and the men's basketball program mourn the loss of former Rambler Greg Williams. Williams, a member of the team from 1981-85, passed away Friday at the age of 63.
"We are saddened to learn of the passing of former men's basketball player Greg Williams," stated athletic director
Steve Watson. "Greg was a true Rambler who brought the gritty, physical approach to the game and was a dependable teammate off the court. Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and his former teammates during this difficult time."
Williams played in 115 career games for Loyola and impacted the game on both ends of the court. He totaled over 338 points, 280 rebounds, 349 assists, 143 steals, and 26 blocks in the Maroon & Gold. His 143 steals still ranks in the program's all-time top 10, coming in tied for seventh.
