Loyola Men’s Basketball To Make Preseason Foreign Trip To France

Ramblers will play three games in France in August

CHICAGO (May 6, 2022) – The Loyola University Chicago men's basketball team will take a 10-day foreign trip to France from August 12 through 21. While in France, head coach Drew Valentine's team will play three games against French squads.

Loyola's preseason foreign tour will take it to three cities over 10 days – Monaco, Lyon and Paris, with games tentatively scheduled for August 14 (in Cannes), August 17 (in Lyon) and August 20 (in Champagne).

"This trip will provide our team with a great opportunity to compete against some quality competition and build chemistry as we prepare for the 2022-23 season," Valentine said. "But even more important than that, this trip will be a tremendous learning and cultural experience for our student-athletes, and one I'm sure they will never forget."

The NCAA allows teams to make an international trip once every four years. Loyola's last excursion overseas for a preseason foreign tour came in 2016 when it visited Spain.

Loyola, which posted a 25-8 overall record in 2021-22 and reached the NCAA Tournament for the third time in five years, begins competition as a member of the Atlantic 10 Conference beginning with the 2022-23 season. In addition to welcoming in seven newcomers, the Ramblers return a pair of starters from last year's squad - guards Braden Norris and Marquise Kennedy.
