CHICAGO (June 16, 2022) – After an extensive, national search, the Loyola University Chicago Men's Volleyball Head Coach
John Hawks is ready to announce his coaching staff. Ali'I Keohohou and
Scott Kevorken are the two newest additions that will come on as assistant coaches with the program.
"I am thrilled by the additions of Ali'i and Scott," said Coach Hawks. "We are fully committed to giving everything we have for the holistic and fundamental development of our team. I cannot wait to get to work with these two fantastic coaches."
Keohohou comes to Rogers Park from the University of Mount Olive. Keohohou was the head coach for the Trojans for four seasons, serving the team in all levels. With no support staff, he recruited all of his student-athletes while planning practices, coordinating games, and figuring out all other aspects. He was named the Conference Carolinas Coach of the Year in 2021 after making it to the conference finals. He also led his team to another Conference Carolinas final appearance in 2022, dropping the match to North Greenville. Since taking over for the Trojans, Keohohou increased his team's level of play and made them more competitive on a national level.
Before coaching at Mount Olive, Keohohou played professionally in England while getting his degree from Durham University. He also coached at various clubs and high schools throughout California, and even joined the University of Nebraska's Camp Staff this past summer. Kehohou played at Cal State Northridge, where he still holds records for the most season and career digs while helping his team to a NCAA Final Four appearance.
"I am so excited to bring on Ali'i. He had tremendous success running his own program for the last four years at Mount Olive. His commitment to his players was evident as was his infectiously positive personality. His knowledge of the game will make an immeasurable impact on our program as soon as he steps into Gentile."
Kevorken is coming to Loyola from Pepperdine University, where he was an assistant coach for the Waves since 2021. During his time with the program, Kevorken worked heavily with the team's offensive plan, tailoring the team's efforts toward his athletes' specialties. Along with that, he analyzed all game film for the Waves while recruiting the incoming classes for this Top 5 Pepperdine team. He helped the team win the MPSF Conference Title while making it to the NCAA Tournament.
Prior to his time at Pepperdine, Kevorken played professionally in Germany for four seasons following a spectacular career at UC Irvine. Kevorken he led his team to two national championships while also earning AVCA All-America honors. He still holds the record for the most blocks in a three-game set in the NCAA.
"In Scott, we are getting a young man who is extremely dedicated to the student-athlete experience and a person who values hard work, commitment and passion in his everyday life," Hawks said. "Scott has won two NCAA Championships as a player, so he is keenly aware of what it takes from a player's perspective."
