CHICAGO (June 30, 2022) – Frank Hogan, who was a member of the Loyola University Chicago men's basketball team from 1955-59, passed away on June 27 at the age of 85. After his days as a student-athlete, Hogan served a stint on Loyola's Board of Trustees.

During his playing days, Hogan was a part of Rambler teams that won 41 games during his three seasons on the varsity squad. His best season came in 1957-58 when he produced 6.6 points and 3.5 rebounds per game as Loyola posted a 16-8 overall record.Â

Hogan was a part of the Ramblers' 1957-58 squad that earned a thrilling 57-56 victory over No. 12 Kentucky at Chicago Stadium. It was Hogan's in-bounds pass to Art McZier that resulted in the game-winning basket at the buzzer as the Ramblers took down the nationally ranked Wildcats.

Hogan also served stints as assistant men's basketball coach and head freshman coach at Loyola under George Ireland.

Following his basketball playing days at Loyola, Hogan went on to a successful career in education, beginning his career as assistant to the president at Loyola Academy. He also served as headmaster of Elgin Academy and The Latin School.

Funeral Mass Friday, July 8 at 10 a.m. at St. Ignatius Catholic Church at 6559 N. Glenwood Avenue, Chicago immediately followed by a private family internment at Calvery Cemetery. Visitation Thursday, July 7 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the John E. Maloney Funeral Home at 1359 West Devon Avenue. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to: Loyola Academy's Frank J. Hogan and Monica S. Hogan Performing Arts Fund or the Athletic Scholarship Fund at Loyola University.
