CHICAGO (August 10, 2022) – Recent Loyola University Chicago graduate Marques Townes (Edison, N.J./St. Joseph/Fairleigh Dickinson) will take the next step in his professional playing career when he competes for Duna-Aszfalt-DTKH Kecskemet in Hungary during the 2022-23 season. The 6-foot-4 guard played in two countries last season, spending the bulk of his time with Union Tours Metropole Basket in France.

During the 2021-22 season, Duna-Aszfalt notched an 18-16 overall record and reached the semifinals in the Hungarian League A-Division.

While with Tours, Townes appeared in 18 games and provided the club with 11.7 points, 2.9 rebounds. 3.4 assists and 1.4 steals per contest. Prior to his stint with Tours last season, the versatile guard put up 11.4 ppg, 3.1 rpg, 3.0 apg and 1.1 spg in seven appearances for Pieno Zvaigzdes Pasvalys in Lithuania.

Since he wrapped up a sterling two-year career at Loyola after transferring from Fairleigh Dickinson University, Townes has played professional basketball in Spain, Estonia and the Dominican Republic, in addition to his aforementioned stops in Lithuania and France.

Townes was a key contributor on Loyola teams that captured back-to-back Missouri Valley Conference regular-season titles in 2017-18 and 2018-19. In addition to helping Loyola to a captivating run to the NCAA Final Four in 2017-18, he played a pivotal role on the Ramblers' squad that reached the National Invitation Tournament (NIT) one year later.

His best season came in 2018-19 when he became the second straight Rambler to earn MVC Player of the Year honors, averaging 15.3 ppg, 5.0 rpg, 3.6 apg and 1.0 spg.
