CHICAGO (August 30, 2022) – Loyola University Chicago will hold its annual Basketball Tip-Off Luncheon presented by Loyola Medicine on October 14 at the Union League Club of Chicago (65 W. Jackson Blvd.). Doors open at 11 a.m. and lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m.
Â
Rambler fans in attendance will get an opportunity to get the inside scoop on the upcoming 2022-23 season from first-year women's head coach
Allison Guth as well as
Drew Valentine, who is entering his second season at the helm of the Loyola men's program.Â
Â
Guth takes over a Loyola women's team that posted 18 wins a year ago, the program's most since 1988-89. The former Rambler assistant coach and Chicago area native, who has spent the last seven years as the head coach at Yale University, will look to a handful of veterans, including returning starters
Maya Chandler (10.6 points per game),
Sam Galanopoulos (7.0 ppg) and
Julia Hoefling (4.5 ppg, 5.2 rpg), to provide leadership in the program's first season as a member of the Atlantic 10 Conference.
Â
Meanwhile, the Loyola men's program will be in search of its third straight trip to the NCAA tournament, one year after going 25-8 overall and reaching the Big Dance for the third time in the last four years that the tournament has been played. Valentine, has played a pivotal role in the ascension of the Loyola program to national prominence, has a crop of talented newcomers to the program in 2022-23, but will lean on senior guard
Braden Norris, who was a Third Team All-Missouri Valley Conference selection in 2021-22, and
Marquise Kennedy, as the Ramblers navigate their inaugural campaign in the A-10.
