Loyola Chicago Downs Roosevelt in Exhibition Play

Emma Nolan led all-scorers with 12 points

CHICAGO – A 41-point second half surged the Ramblers to a 71-49 win over Roosevelt in Sunday's exhibition. Loyola Chicago was led by three players in double-figures, including a game-high 12 points from Emma Nolan.

"We were going into this game focused on how our identity was going to be defined this year," said head coach Allison Guth. "We really want to defend, we want to rebound, and we want to run. We won the rebounding battle. We only scored 12 points off the fast break, so I think we have some opportunities in transition."

How It Happened
The lead was Loyola's from the start of Sunday's exhibition. Ali Berg nailed a three-pointer on the first possession sparking a 12-2 run for the Ramblers. Roosevelt responded out of the media timeout with a five-point run to chip away at the lead. Jalyssa Carrasco and Jayla Turchin helped get the Lakers within four by the end of the first.

Kira Chivers sunk a pair from the line three minutes into the second to give Loyola its first double-digit lead of the game, 21-11. The lead continued to grow in the third quarter with an 8-2 run capped with a fast break from Sitori Tanin for a 14-point edge.

Sam Galanopoulos made it a 20-point game at the 1:57 mark with a bucket in the paint. The Lakers added five points to the board before the third ended, but it wasn't enough to make a dent in the 51-34 Loyola lead.

Emma and Sophia Nolan combined for the first six points of the fourth quarter to get the Rambler lead back over 20. Roosevelt cut it down to 17 on three occasions in the final 10 minutes, but four straight points from Chivers and Aaliyah Moore to end the game clinched a 20+ point margin win, 71-49.
