CHICAGO – The Loyola Chicago women's volleyball team is turning its attention to the 2023 Atlantic 10 Tournament this weekend in Davidson, North Carolina. The Ramblers earned the No. 2 seed and a first-round bye in this year's action after finishing 16-2 in league play.
The tournament opens with quarterfinals on Friday. The Ramblers will play the winner of No. 3 VCU vs. No. 6 Fordham on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. CT. The winner advances to the championship match on Sunday at 11 a.m. CT.
Loyola closed the regular season with a program record 16-match win streak. Thirteen of those wins were sweeps, including the last four against Rhode Island and Fordham.
Over the final regular season series with the Rams,
Bree Borum tallied her 2,000
th career assist. She finished the two-match stretch with 56 total. Borum has three triple-doubles this season. Her first came against DePaul with 10 kills, 30 assists, and 10 digs. A week later, Borum notched one against Dayton with 10 kills, 31 assists, and 12 digs. Her final one came at the end of Octber against Duquesne with 12 kills, 44 assists, and 13 digs.
Three Ramblers also achieved 1,000 kill milestones this season. Most recently,
Emily Banitt recorded her 1,000
th kill at Fordham. It was her first kill of the match on Nov. 3.
Taylor Venuto hit the mark on Oct. 3 at Saint Louis, while
Addie Barnes registered the kill on Sept. 23 at Dayton.
Venuto also tallied her 500
th career block at Fordham in the second match of the series. She's at 503 total and will end her Rambler career as the all-time leader in career blocks.
