Â
How It Happened
Five quick points over the span of 34 seconds from
Bryce Golden and
Philip Alston pulled the Ramblers within three at 15-12 midway through the opening half. Shooting by the Ramblers was hard to come by to open the game, as a five-minute scoreless drought allowed Dayton to build a 23-12 lead until
Braden Norris hit a jumper with 4:38 remaining in the opening half.
Â
Marquise Kennedy followed with a bucket before Alston hit a pair of free throws to pull Loyola within five with just over three minutes remaining. Four points by Dayton's Toumani Camara, paired with a Kennedy jumper, had the Ramblers facing a 28-20 deficit entering the halftime break.
Â
Dayton began to pull away in the early going of the second half, using a 7-0 run over 1:08 to take its largest lead of the game at 42-27 and forcing the Ramblers to burn a timeout with 14:19 to play.
Â
Loyola cold shooting continued through the second half, allowing Dayton to extend the lead and close out 16-point victory.
