Loyola Travels to Nation's Capital for Rematch with George Washington Saturday

Ramblers and Colonials are set for a 12:30 p.m. CT tipoff

CHICAGO (February 17, 2023) — Loyola (6-20, 1-12 A-10) travels to Washington D.C. for Saturday's matchup against George Washington (16-10, 8-5 A-10), with tipoff set for 12:30 p.m. CT inside the Charles E. Smith Center. The game will air live on ESPN3 outside of the NBC Sports Washington regional coverage area.

LAST TIME OUT
Sitori Tanin logged her third double-double, and her second in three games, but Loyola dropped Wednesday night's contest against George Mason by a final score of 80-63 at Gentile Arena. A layup by Mallory Ramage put the Ramblers ahead 14-13 with under two minutes in the opening quarter, but Loyola wouldn't lead again the rest of the way. Tanin finished with 16 points and tied her career-best rebound total with 12, while grabbing a career-high eight steals. Her eight steals were the most by a Rambler in 10 years and three shy of the program record. Tanin has been on a tear, averaging 14.6 points and 9.4 rebounds over the previous five contests. Maya Chandler (17 pts) and Kira Chivers (10 pts) also scored in double figures against the Patriots. Chivers, who ranks among the A-10 leaders in assist-to-turnover ratio, hasn't committed a turnover in four consecutive games, with 10 assists while averaging over 37 minutes per game in that span.

SERIES STUFF
Loyola and George Washington met for the first time back on Jan. 25 in Chicago, with the Colonials capturing a 75-61 triumph. Loyola rattled off an 8-0 run to open the fourth quarter, slicing a double-digit deficit down to just eight points at 64-56 with under five minutes remaining. GW missed its first 11 shot attempts in the final period but responded to the Loyola run with a 3-pointer to keep a double-digit lead the rest of the way. Mia Lakstigala led GW with 19 points on 4-of-6 shooting from beyond the arc, while Mayowa Taiwo registered a double-double effort with 12 points and 19 rebounds. GW held a 51-35 edge on the glass, including 21 offensive boards, as Taiwo grabbed the most rebounds by an A-10 player this season.

SCOUTING GEORGE WASHINGTON
The Colonials, who are sitting fourth in the conference standings, are returning to action after suffering a pair of road losses last week to Saint Louis (76-64) and Rhode Island (64-47). George Washington holds a 10-2 home record this season, with just one home setback in league play (Saint Joseph's). The Colonials are averaging 65.0 points per outing, led by Lakstigala (13.9) and Nya Robertson (13.8), as the team ranks second in the A-10 in three-pointers made per game (8.2) and three-pointers attempted (24.7). In its most recent outing at Saint Louis, GW attempted 40 three-point shots and made just eight.
