Loyola Travels to Davidson in Wednesday Night A-10 Action

Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. CT inside Belk Arena

CHICAGO (February 7, 2023) – The Loyola University Chicago women's basketball team (6-17, 1-9 A-10) will hit the road for Wednesday night's contest against Davidson College (11-11, 4-4 A-10) in the first meeting between the two programs. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. CT inside Belk Arena, with the game airing live on ESPN+.

LAST TIME OUT
Sam Galanopoulos scored 17 points to pace three Ramblers in double digits, but Loyola fell 80-64 at Fordham Saturday afternoon. Sitori Tanin recorded 15 points and eight rebounds, while Mallory Ramage filled the stat sheet with a career-high 14 points, five boards, three steals and two assists in her first career start. Loyola raced out to a quick 7-2 lead following a mid-range jumper from Ramage and an early three by Galanopoulos, which forced an early Fordham timeout less than three minutes into the contest. However, the host Rams responded with a 10-0 run, including eight points from Kaitlyn Downey, to claim the lead for good as the Ramblers couldn't get closer than two possessions the rest of the way.

SERIES STUFF
Davidson will become the 11th different opponent this season that Loyola will meet for the first time in program history. The Ramblers are 3-7 against first-time opponents this year. Prior to this season, the Ramblers only previously played five of its 14 current league opponents including Dayton, Duquesne, La Salle, St. Joseph's, and Saint Louis. Davidson is the second opponent from the state of North Carolina that Loyola will compete against this season. The Ramblers defeated Elon (72-46) at the UCF Holiday Classic back on December 20 in Orlando. Prior to the 2022-23 campaign, Loyola only played one school from North Carolina, High Point (L, 70-63), which also came at a neutral site in the season-opening Army Invitational to kick off the 2000-01 slate.

SCOUTING DAVIDSON
Davidson, which holds a 5-2 home record, fell in its most recent outing against Rhode Island Saturday, 67-60. The Wildcats led by as many as 10 points, 17-7, before Rhode Island pulled away with an 18-0 run to secure the lead. Redshirt-junior Elle Sutphin ranks in the top-5 in the Atlantic 10 in four different categories entering the final month of the regular season. Her 50.3 shooting percentage ranks third in the league, in addition to her 149 made field goals, 383 total points and 17.4 points per game, which all rank fifth among the conference.

UP NEXT
Loyola will close out the regular season with three of its final five contests inside the friendly confines of Gentile Arena. The Ramblers return to Rogers Park Saturday afternoon in a 2 p.m. CT tipoff against St. Bonaventure.
