AZUSA, Calif. (April 14, 2023) –
Grace Kuhn and
Fionn Harrington landed on the program's all-time list in the 5k, while eight Ramblers set personal records to lead Loyola action at the Bryan Clay Invitational on day two. Kuhn,
Kelly Andrews, and
Miguel Abaitua also clocked times to win their respective heats.
In the women's 5k, Kuhn's time of 16:40.85 was a little over two seconds faster to claim the 10
th slot on the program's all-time list. It also smashed her PR by 45 seconds and won her heat by just under a half second. Harrington saved the best for last in the men's 5k with a time of 14:15.76. It was seventh in his heat and a PR by eight seconds. The time also ranks him fifth on the program's top-10 list.
More PRs fell for both the men and women in the 5k.
Jake Phillips shined in his debut with a time of 14:35.84, while teammate
Woody Jerome beat his PR by more than a minute and achieved the European U20 Standard with a time of 14:27.53. He finished ninth in his heat.
For the women,
Grace Jostock was eight seconds faster this time around with a time of 16:53.29, which fell 13
th in her heat.
Stephen Lavey (15:23.57),
Ruth Heery (17:53.65),
Grace Maurer (18:07.76), and
Aiden Grasse (18:39.17) logged solid 5k performances for the Ramblers.
In the 800, Andrews and Abaitua both came out on top for Loyola in their heats. Andrews notched a personal best by two seconds with a time of 2:17.32. Abaitua then won his with a time of 1:50.49, narrowly missing a new personal best.
Cameron Arkesteyn posted a time of 1:53.69 in the men's 800.
Jack Slaughter finished just on his heels with a time of 1:53.87.
Day two started with the men's 10k.
Sean O'Connell led with Loyola's top time of 30:18.00, which was his debut in the event for the Ramblers.
Chantz Visse paced himself to a time of 30:32.71, beating his PR by eight seconds.
Nathan Kolbus (30:31.38) and
Nick Chudzik (30:43.41) wrapped up the 10k action for the Ramblers with solid performances on the track.
Loyola will conclude the Bryan Clay Invitational at Azusa Pacific Saturday. The Ramblers will compete in the 100 dash, 200 dash, 100 hurdles, 400 hurdles, and 1500. All the action can be streamed on FloSports and live results will be posted
