CHICAGO (April 20, 2023) – In an announcement made by the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) on Thursday morning, seven members of the Loyola University Chicago women's golf team have been given a place on the All-Academic team for the 2022-23 season.
Graduate student
Lorenza Martinez receives her fourth selection to an All-Academic team, having been on the Missouri Valley Conference's Scholar-Athlete Team in her previous three seasons (2019-20, 2020-21, 2021-22). Junior
Abby Thielbar joins Martinez with her second career selection, being named to the MVC's Scholar-Athlete team for the 2021-22 season. Enjoying their first career selections are senior

"Our team works very hard both on and off the golf course, so it's wonderful to see our players recognized for their academic achievements," said head coach
Brandy Johnston. "Seven out of eight players receiving this honor is pretty amazing and no doubt Adie [Maki] would be on there if she wasn't a freshman. They should all be very proud!"
Martinez, a marketing major, finishes her Loyola career as the program leader in rounds played, appearing in 101 rounds for the Maroon & Gold, as well as leading the team with the most birdies in program history with 173. The Menomonee Falls, Wis. product has posted a scoring average of 78.6 strokes per round, highlighted by her best career finish at the Ramblers' win at the Loyola Parkinson Invitational, where she placed in second with a 226 (77-73-76).
Thielbar followed up her historic sophomore year with another impressive campaign. The molecular and cellular neuroscience major paced the Ramblers in rounds played, appearing in all 28 rounds for the Maroon & Gold. Her highest finish of the year also came at the Loyola Parkinson Invitational, finishing one stroke behind Martinez in a share of third place with a 227 (73-77-77).
Dayton rounds out her Loyola career with a season filled with personal bests. The political science major carded her lowest career round at the Spring Break shootout with a four-under-par 67, one shot off of the programs all-time low round. Her strong play that week guided her to a share of 16
th place to tie her highest career finish while also earning her MAAC Golfer of the Week honors for the first time in her career.
Suter followed up her breakout freshman campaign with a strong sophomore season. The accounting major currently ranks second on the team with a stroke average of 77.1. Her highlight of the season came at the Dolores Black Falcon Invitational, where she captured the first victory of her collegiate career, as well as the first individual win for Loyola since 2019.
Brochu, who currently is double-majoring in biology and psychology, appeared in 20 rounds for the Ramblers. Her highest finish of the season was a share of 18
th at the Loyola Parkinson Invitational with a 239 (85-77-77). The sophomore carded her 54-hole low one tournament earlier at the Ramblers' win at the Ball State Cardinal Classic, firing three consecutive 75s to hand in a 225.
Reisinger made her season debut for the Ramblers in the spring and immediately made an impact. The business major had a career performance at the Lady Bison Classic, tying her career low with a 77 then proceeding to break it with a 76 in her final round. She would go on to set a new career-low score with a 75 at the Spring Break Shootout, where she carded her 54-hole low with a 231 (80-75-76).
These players join a list of 37 individuals honored throughout the MAAC. To be eligible for these honors, students-athletes are required to maintain a 3.2 GPA while also completing two semesters at their institution.
