Ramblers Fall in Series Finale at UMass

AMHERST, Mass. (April 8, 2023) - Loyola (14-18, 8-4) fell in the series finale to UMass Saturday morning. The Minutewomen broke a fourth inning tie with three runs in the bottom to cruise to a 7-4 win. Amelia Thomas led the Ramblers with two doubles.

UMass jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead after the first two innings. The first two runs went on the board in the first. With the bases loaded, Lamson's single brought Wameling in, while Whittier scored following a walk. Lamson tallied her second RBI of the game an inning later with a base hit for the 3-0 edge.

The Rambler bats woke up in the fourth inning. Thomas, Sydney Barnett, and Haley Wallace recorded three consecutive doubles for Loyola. Barnett and Wallace each plating a runner. Nova Sinskul then singled up the middle sending Wallace home to tie it 3-3.

The Minutewomen responded with three of their own runs in the bottom of the fourth to regain the lead. Lamson brought in the leading run, while Packard recorded a two-run double for a 6-3 lead.

Loyola's final run of the game came in in the fifth inning. Barnett's sac fly scored Madison Ebeling. UMass wasn't done scoring and would get one more on a Shields' double in the sixth. The Minutewomen held on for a 7-4 win.

Inside the Box Score
- The Ramblers finished with nine hits.
- Thomas was the lone Rambler with multiple. Both were doubles.
- Barnett had a team-high two RBI.
- Peyton Pepkowski falls to 8-8 on the year. She tallied three strikeouts.
