Ramblers Advance To A-10 Semis With Fourth Straight Win vs. Dayton

BRONX, N.Y. (May 11, 2023) - Loyola (25-21) exploded for 11 hits in its first game of the A-10 Tournament. The Ramblers beat Dayton 7-1 to advance to the semifinals. It marks their fourth straight win against the Flyers after sweeping them at home last weekend. Loyola will take on No. 4 George Mason Friday at 11 a.m. CT.

Loyola plated a pair of runs in the second and third innings for a quick 4-0 lead over Dayton. Abbie Gregus brought in the first run with a deep RBI single to right field. Teagan Sopczak doubled it with a sac fly before the second ended. In the third, Barnett singled up the middle for her second hit of the game to put another on the board, while Amelia Thomas made it 4-0 scoring after a ground out.

The Ramblers tacked on another run in the fourth when Madison Ebeling's single brought home Gregus for a 5-0 edge.

Dayton tallied a couple hits over the next two innings, but Loyola's scoring wasn't over with two more coming in the sixth. Sydney Barnett battled at the plate with the bases loaded. She turned a 14-pitch at-bat into a walk bringing in one. Loyola's seventh run came home on another sac fly from Haley Wallace.

The Flyers didn't give up and plated their lone run with a solo homer from Wong. They also tallied a double in the seventh, but Loyola held them off for the 7-1 win.
