Ramblers Add Lindsay Brown to Coaching Staff

Brown joins Loyola after spending the 2023 season at Princeton

CHICAGO (May 24, 2023) – Loyola head men's volleyball coach John Hawks announced on Wednesday the addition of Lindsay Brown to the Rambler bench as the program's new assistant coach.

"I want to take this moment to welcome Lindsay to Loyola Chicago and the men's volleyball program," said Hawks. "I couldn't be more thrilled to have her join us on staff. Lindsay is highly skilled and very detail oriented. Over the last several years, I have witnessed her superb evaluation of prospective student-athletes and her professional approach to recruiting."

Brown heads to Rogers Park after spending the 2023 season at Princeton where she served as the program's assistant coach and recruiting coordinator. The Tigers advanced to the EIVA Championship finals this past season and finished the year ranked 14th nationally while having five players garner All-EIVA honors.

"I am grateful to Coach Hawks, Coach Keohohou, Deputy Director Holly Strauss-O'Brien and Athletic Director Steve Watson for the opportunity to join this program," said Brown. "I have always had a profound respect for the Loyola men's volleyball program, and I am deeply impressed by Coach Hawks' vision for the future as well as the palpable support from both the department and alumni.  With this strong sense of alignment, I am ecstatic to be joining the mission to provide an excellent experience for the athletes while supporting their holistic development and consistently competing for championships.  I can't wait to get started."

No stranger to the MIVA, Brown previously served as the lead assistant coach at Purdue Fort Wayne for three years and as a graduate assistant for the Mastodons for two seasons before that.

Brown also has experience on the national level, having coached the U.S. Boys U19 National Team last summer. Under Brown's leadership, the U19 squad would go on to win gold at the 2022 NORCECA Pan American Cup and securing a berth in the 2023 FIVB World Championships in the process.

"Lindsay is competitive, smart, and a gifted communicator. She represents a high moral character, and her high standards reflect who we are as a program and university. Our men are going to really enjoy the value that Lindsay brings on and off the court to our team," added Hawks.

As a former setter for Sonoma State University, Brown finished her collegiate career as the season and career assist record holder for the Sea Wolves as well as the owner of the career service ace record. Brown was an All-Conference selection three times and was Academic All-Conference four times.

After she finished her time at Sonoma State, she played for Volleyball Club Tirol in Austria and the NorCal Dream Team and Wildfire in the Premier Volleyball League.

Brown's coaching experience includes a head coaching position for the junior club at Empire Volleyball and assistant coaching position at Sonoma State, Ferris State and Dominican University of California. She was also an assistant coach for the Volleyball Club Tirol U-11 team.

Brown earned her degree in general studies with a concentration in sociology from Purdue Fort Wayne in 2017.
