Women's Volleyball Earns 2023 USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award

Loyola recognized for academic success for the fourth consecutive season

CHICAGO (July 18, 2022) – For the fourth straight year and 10th time in the last 11 seasons, the Loyola University Chicago women's volleyball program has earned the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award. The Ramblers were one of five current members of the Atlantic 10 Conference to receive the award. Loyola joined Davidson, Dayton, Duquesne, and VCU in garnering Team Academic Award recognition

Established during the 1992-93 academic year, the AVCA Team Academic Award honors volleyball teams that maintain a year-long grade-point average of 3.30 on a 4.0 scale or 4.10 on a 5.0 scale.

It was a banner season for the Ramblers, capturing both the regular season and conference tournament titles in their inaugural year as members of the Atlantic 10 Conference. Loyola advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2005 where the team would take on 16th-ranked Kentucky.

During the year the Ramblers set a program record with 14 consecutive wins, all of which came during conference play. Loyola would finish the season a perfect 12-0 at home while dropping just one match in league action.

Krlie McNabb and Bree Borum were named the A-10 Player of the Year and Setter of the Year, respectively, in addition to First Team All-Conference honors. Taylor Venuto and Emily Bannit picked up Second Team accolades while head coach Amanda Berkley was recognized as the Atlantic 10 Co-Coach of the Year. McNabb would go on to be named an AVCA Honorable Mention All-American.

Loyola opens the 2023 season on August 25, taking on Creighton at the Purdue Reamer Club Xtra Special Premier.
