COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Aug. 15, 2023) –
Parker Van Buren of the Loyola Chicago men's volleyball team has been hard at work in Anaheim, Calif. training with USA Volleyball in hopes of competing at the 2023 NORCECA Men's Pan American Cup. Today, Van Buren's dream came true as he was tabbed to the travel roster.
One-of-14 athletes chosen for the roster, Van Buren's team will compete against some of the top squads the North, Central America, and Caribbean Volleyball Confederation (NORCECA) has to offer. The event, which runs Aug. 13-21 in Guadalajara and Jalisco, Mexico, serves as an America qualifier for the Pan American Games. Matches will be held inside Astros Arena.
"It's a dream come true for me," said Van Buren. "Training this summer in Anaheim with some of the best volleyball players in country has been an incredible and challenging opportunity. I'm excited to represent the United States in Mexico this week and bring home the gold!"
Van Buren will reunite with former 2022 Pan American Cup Final Six teammates Ethan Champlin (UCLA), Quinn Isaacson (Ball State), Kyle McCauley (UC San Diego), Merrick McHenry (UCLA), and Brett Wildman (Penn State).
