Loyola Opens A-10 Play at Home Against #23 Dayton

Rematch of last year's A-10 title match opens conference play

CHICAGO -- The Loyola University Chicago women's volleyball team, wraps up a seven-match homestand this weekend, playing host to #23 Dayton in the first weekend of Atlantic 10 play. The Ramblers and Flyers will square off at 6 p.m. Friday before rounding out the weekend series with a 12:30 p.m. first serve on Saturday. Both matches will be streamed on ESPN+.

  • The Ramblers enter A-10 play looking to defend their title after going 17-1 in league matches a year ago, including a perfect 9-0 at home in conference matches. Loyola's lone defeat in conference play was at Dayton, a 3-2 setback on November 4. The Ramblers would go on to exact revenge with a 3-1 victory in the Atlantic 10 Championship match to earn an automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament.
  • Bree Borum notched her first-career triple-double and Loyola's first triple-double since 2013 when the setter posted 30 assists, 10 digs and a career-high 10 kills against DePaul.
  • Emily Banitt and Anna Feldkamp were rewarded for their performances over the first two weeks as each player has been named to an All-Tournament Team. Banitt was selected to the All-Tournament Team at Purdue following her standout performance in the Ramblers' upset win over Purdue while Feldkamp picked up All-Tournament honors the second weekend with a pair of double-digit kill performances against Bowling Green and Wright State.
  • Loyola picked up its first ranked win in almost two decades in the team's first tournament of the season when the Ramblers defeated No. 16 Purdue, 3-2. It was Loyola's first win over a ranked opponent since Sept. 14, 2004 when the Ramblers took down No. 9 Illinois, 3-2, in Champaign.
  • The Ramblers will look to defend its A-10 title as Loyola was selected to repeat as Atlantic 10 Conference Champions in the preseason poll. Loyola secured seven of the 10 first-place votes to sit atop the poll with 97 total points. Dayton, Loyola's opponent in last year's conference championship match, was picked to finish second (two first-place votes). Davidson picked up the 10th and final first-place ballot to secure third place in the preseason poll.
