CHICAGO (Sept. 26, 2023) – Top assistant
Beth Wallace of the Loyola University Chicago softball team was elevated to associate head coach, head coach
Alicia Abbott announced Tuesday.
Wallace, who enters her sixth season with the Ramblers in 2024, played a pivotal role in helping Loyola Chicago reach the 2023 Atlantic 10 Tournament Championship, a feat the squad hadn't accomplished since 2014.
"I am incredibly grateful for this opportunity, not only for our team, but for our staff at Loyola," said Wallace. "I look forward to continuing my responsibilities on staff and helping our team reach an A-10 Championship. Coach Abbott has created a great foundation for our team and developed a strong culture. I'm so excited to continue helping and growing our student-athletes!"
Most recently after the successful 2023 campaign, Wallace assisted in mentoring four student-athletes to all-conference accolades:
Madison Ebeling was named to the A-10's First Team, while
Amelia Thomas and
Peyton Pepkowski were tabbed to the Second Team.
Sierra Sass collected All-Rookie honors, and Thomas added an All-Academic nod to her resume.
"There's no one more deserving of this promotion than Beth," said Abbott. "She has been pivotal to the success of this program and we're so fortunate to get to experience her positivity and loyalty day in and day out. Her knowledge of the game has made us better, and her work ethic is a model for all of us."
Loyola Chicago has posted 94 wins, including two 20-plus win seasons (2019 and 2023), with Wallace on staff. The LaGrange, Ill. native was a star outfielder at Western Illinois before spending two seasons as head coach at her alma mater.
