Ramblers Dominate Hawks on Senior Day

Loyola secures 4-1 win to cap regular season

CHICAGO – Putting a bow on the regular season, the Loyola University Chicago men's soccer team beat Saint Joseph's, 4-1, Saturday at Loyola Soccer Park. The win was extra special as the team celebrated Senior Day prior to the win. The team honored Michael Hong, Julian Cisneros, Jamis Fite, Kamran Tejumola, Benni Hofmann, Matthew Andrusko and Quinten Blair.

"Couldn't be prouder of our seniors, and obviously the last regular season game here at home. To get a 4-1 win, dominate the game, and then play for our seniors. It was a great feeling. So, we're certainly happy with how we finish things off,"

How it Happened

Ben Bischof notched a brace in the first half alone, giving Loyola Chicago (5-9-2, 3-4-1 A-10) all the momentum early.

The Eltville, Germany, native first scored in the 20th minute after a throw in near the Hawks' net. Julian Cisneros dribbled the ball into the box and crossed it to the junior midfielder. A jumping Bischoff connected with the cross, burying LUC's first goal of the game.

On the ensuing kickoff, a defensive lapse allowed Loyola to swiftly regain possession deep in Saint Joseph's territory. Hugo Urdiales and Cisneros combined to advance the ball to Bischof, who fired a one-touch strike with his right foot, netting Loyola's second goal.

Just after halftime in the 48th minute, Urdiales joined the action, extending the lead to 3-0. David Siemionko, notching his second career assist, delivered a precise pass to Urdiales just outside the Hawks' penalty box on the far left. Urdiales then powered the ball past the diving keeper to score.

Fittingly, Loyola's final goal went to senior Andrusko, marking the first goal of his career. In the right place at the right time, Andrusko intercepted a pass from the Hawks' keeper and easily kicked the ball into the back of the net.

Saint Joseph's (4-12-1, 1-7-0 A-10) scored in the 83rd minute, but it was too little too late as the Ramblers pulled away with the victory.
