Women’s Soccer Concludes Postseason at UMass

AMHERST, Mass. – In the quarterfinals of the Atlantic 10 tournament, Loyola University Chicago fought until the very end before falling, 1-0, at Massachusetts on Saturday, Nov. 2.

"It's heartbreaking to see eight strong women leave our program, but one thing is for certain, they made a lasting impact, and their legacy will live on. Losing is hard but we walked off the field with our heads high knowing that we left it all on the field. I'm so proud of these Ramblers," said head coach Angela Staveskie.

The Ramblers finished their season 9-5-5 overall for a .605 winning percentage, their best since 2021 when they ended with a .778 percentage.

How It Happened
An early, Olimpico goal from Minutewoman Ella Curry put UMass on the board and ahead for the rest of the match, but the Ramblers persisted.

Sophomore forwards Zoe Hevey and Jadyn Harris each had a shot on-frame and redshirt freshman Allison Deardorff made one save to close out the first 45 minutes. Hevey added another shot in the first half.

The Ramblers came out on fire in the second half, taking six shots and holding the Minutewomen to just two while dominating possession the remainder of the match.

Loyola opened the half with a corner kick then senior midfielder Jaimee Cibulka had a shot blocked and cleared for another corner. Cibulka put the ball into play inside the box to freshman forward Jocelyn Leigh who had her shot blocked.

Lydia Case tried for an off-target, far out strike before Hevey added two more shots, one in the 87th minute, and Cibulka took another. The Ramblers battled until the final second on the clock.
