TAMPA – The Ramblers opened the South Florida Showdown Friday afternoon taking on No. 4 Washington. The Huskies managed a 9-0 win in five innings. The night capped with an extra inning battle between Loyola Chicago and South Florida. The Bulls ultimately pulled away, 2-1.
The Ramblers fall to 5-3 on the season.
Game One: No. 4 Washington 9, Loyola 0 (5 inn.)
Andie Broniewicz had two strikeouts against a top-five team by the end of the third inning, but the Huskies cracked through the Loyola defense in the top of the fourth. Washington forced three errors and plated seven runs on six hits to jump out ahead of the Ramblers.
The Huskies added two more to the board in the fifth to run away with a 9-0 win.

Game Two: South Florida 2, Loyola 1 (8 inn.)
The Ramblers woke their bats up immediately in game two with singles from
Riley Owens and
Ava Bieneman to start the game. Despite each team tallying hits in the third and Loyola getting another in the fourth, it was a pitching duel in the night cap.
Peyton Pepkowski had six strikeouts by the bottom of the fourth. The Bulls managed to put a run on the board in the bottom of the sixth. Galligani led off with a double to left center and scored on a sac fly from Trivelpiece to go up 1-0.
The Ramblers didn't quit putting the tying run on base in the lead off at-bat of the seventh with a lead-off double to left from
Liz Sedakis.
Hannah Nalley got her to third with a sac bunt, while
Nat Lesnicki put a single past the first baseman to bring Sedakis home and tie the game, 1-1. Pepkowski retired three straight to force extras.
With the game entering extra innings, the Bulls were able to place the last out on second in the top of the eighth. Pepkowski struck out the first Bull, but Elliot singled to center to bring Kadlub home for the walk-off win, 2-1.
