BRONX, N.Y. – Loyola Chicago dropped a pair of games Friday to No. 1 Dayton and No. 2 Saint Louis to ultimately end its 2024 season. The Flyers edged the Ramblers 2-0 before they fell 7-6 in a heart breaker to the Billikens in the night cap.
The Ramblers finished 29-24 overall.
Game One: Dayton 2, Loyola 0
The Ramblers and Flyers battled defensively through the first two innings before Dayton found a hole on the bottom of the third. Loyola brought in a fifth infielder leaving right field wide open for Schutter to triple to the fence. She put the first run on the board with an error on the throw in.
Loyola's offense was quiet until the sixth with Nat Lesnick led off with a double and
Ava Bieneman jumped on base with an infield single. The Flyers retired two straight to escape the inning unscathed.
In the bottom of the sixth, Dayton tacked on one more run with a sac fly to plate Wong. Loyola would gain a base runner with two outs in the seventh but couldn't rally. Dayton advanced with a 2-0 win.

Game Two: Saint Louis 7, Loyola 6
Loyola and Saint Louis combined for 13 hits and 17 runs in an electric night cap to Friday's action. The Billikens got the scoring started early in the first with a triple that plated the first run of the game.
They doubled their lead in the third after a double that brought home Sullivan who got on with a single.
The Ramblers tied the game 2-2 in the fourth after a
Riley Owens single scored
Liz Sedakis and a ground out by
Nat Lesnicki plated
Katie Mitchell.
Loyola then pulled ahead in the fifth with three runs off three hits.
Ava Bieneman and Teagen Sopczak went for back-to-back singles to open the inning. Both scored on a fly ball to center from
Haley Wallace that bounced right off the glove and got sent back to the fence. Wallace made it 5-2 on a wild pitch.
The Billikens responded in the bottom with a three-run blast from Newbanks to swing the lead back in their favor, 6-5. They added yet again in the sixth with an RBI double off Sullivan's bat.
The Ramblers made it interesting in the seventh loading the bases with no outs. They snuck one home after Bieneman was walked, but the Billikens were able to get out of the inning and win, 7-6.
