Sam Galanopoulos Signs Professional Contract with Esperides Kallitheas

Former Rambler guard heading overseas to continue basketball career

ATHENS, Greece – Former Loyola University Chicago women's basketball student-athlete Sam Galanopoulos inked a professional contract with Esperides Kallitheas, a women's basketball club based in Kallithea, Athens. Galanopoulos is the fifth Rambler since 2010 to sign a contract to compete at the professional level.

Galanopoulos, a Greek American from Skokie, Ill., wrapped an illustrious five-year career with the Ramblers this past spring. She averaged 2.2 assists. 34.0 minutes, and 13.5 points per game, both team-highs, in her final season with Loyola Chicago. She shot the ball at a 47-percent clip and was 42-percent from beyond the arc in 2023-24, both team-bests as well. 

Through her collegiate career, Galanopoulos racked up 426 assists, 435 rebounds and 1,187 points wearing the Maroon and Gold.

Founded in 1995, Esperides has won two Greek Women's League championships and four Greek Women's Cups.
