Gaudreault heads to Rogers Park after serving in similar role at Georgia

CHICAGO – Gabriella Gaudreault has been added as an assistant coach for Loyola Chicago's cross country and track & field programs, announced Monday by director of the programs Coach Gavin Kennedy. Gaudreault will work directly with the Rambler's middle distance and distance student-athletes.

Gaudreault joins the Ramblers from the University of Georgia, where she spent one year as the assistant coach for the men's and women's cross country and track and field teams. During her time in Athens, the Bulldogs saw success in all facets. The women earned a third place team finish at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships, and placed 10th at the outdoor NCAA championship. On the men's side, the Bulldogs placed ninth at the NCAA Outdoor Championships. In cross country, The men's team compiled 318 points at the NCAA South Regionals to finish 13th as a team, with the women's team finishing 17th overall.

"I am thrilled to welcome Coach Gaudreault to Rogers Park," said Kennedy. "Both our men's and women's cross country and track program will benefit from her years of experience in the NCAA. Her extensive background in recruiting at the highest level will directly impact our continued pursuit of Atlantic 10 and NCAA success. Coach Gaudreault's enthusiasm is contagious, and she is committed to doing things the right way while putting the student-athletes first."

Individually, Gaudreault assisted Charlotte Augenstein to a personal best of 4:17.48 in the 1500m at the NCAA East Preliminary Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Augenstein had success in the mile as well, placing seventh at the SEC Indoor Track and Field Championships with a personal best of 4:42.75. Her time marked the seventh-fastest time in UGA history. On the men's side, Gaudreault helped lead Wesley John to a personal best time of 8:53.52 in the 3,000m steeplechase, qualifying him for the NCAA East Preliminary Rounds and stands as the third-fastest time in the record books at Georgia. In addition to John, Chase Condra led the Bulldogs during the championship season in cross country, clocking a time of 24:24.1 for 8k at the SEC Cross Country Championships. He followed by taking 30th overall at the NCAA South Regional Championships 10k in 29:49.4.

"I am very grateful for Coach Kennedy and the athletic department for bringing me into the Rambler family and on board with this incredible cross country and track & field program," said Gaudreault. "Coach Kennedy is an exceptional leader and has guided this team to great levels of success. I am so excited to assist him and work with this talented group of young men and women here at Loyola!"

Before Georgia, Gaudreault worked as a volunteer distance coach at Vanderbilt. She assisted Niki Narayani (10,000m) and Caroline Eck (5000m) to the NCAA East Prelims and helped Narayani score in the 3000m (9:25) and 5000m (16:17) at the 2023 SEC Indoor Championships. In the fall, Narayani earned All-Region honors with a 23rd-place finish at the NCAA South Regional Cross Country Championships.

Prior to Vanderbilt, Gaudreault coached at Towson University from 2020-2022. She had the opportunity to serve as the interim head coach towards the end of her tenure and led the Tigers to great levels of success. Under Gaudreault's leadership, Crystal Johnson was named the ECAC Championships Most Outstanding Performer. The Tigers had three conference champions in the women's 100m, pole vault, and javelin. Gaudreault also helped Cristal Cuervo compete internationally, representing Panama at the 2022 Bolivarian Games with a sixth-place finish in the 400m.

Towson placed third at the CAA Outdoor Championships, following its runner-up finish in 2021, with Hayley Horvath earning CAA Co-Field Athlete of the Year.
