Saint Louis Escapes Ramblers, 2-1

Loyola Chicago falls in A-10 road test

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Loyola University Chicago men's soccer team fell, 2-0, to Saint Louis on the road Saturday night. Jack McFeely scored for the Ramblers in the final seconds of the match, but it wasn't enough as the Billikens emerged victorious at Hermann Stadium.

How it Happened
The Ramblers fell behind early after a penalty kick was awarded to Saint Louis in the eighth minute. Matthew Wrobel buried the attempt as the Billikens took a 1-0 lead over Loyola Chicago. The home squad doubled its advantage in the 26th minute when Luis Lara scored to the bottom left side of the goal.

After being limited to just one shot through the first 45 minutes, the Ramblers adjusted at halftime and started the second half with three in the first five minutes. Nicholas Roe had an opportunity on-goal with a header in the box after a free kick, but his attempt was saved.

In the waning moments of the match, McFeely found Arved von Vegesack's cross in the box and scored a beautiful goal, eliminating Saint Louis' shutout in the 90th minute.

  • The Ramblers totaled seven shots while the Billikens led with 10.
  • Roe led the way with two shots, a career-high for the freshman.
  • Luka Ivancic also had two shots through the evening.
  • Aidan Crawford had one save defending Loyola's net.
