Loyola Challenges George Mason on the Road

CHICAGO - Loyola Chicago takes its first game of the week on the road at George Mason Wednesday night. The Patriots are on a five-game win streak and at the top of the league, while the Ramblers look to build off their home win over Fordham last week. Tip-off at EagleBank Arena is 6 p.m. CT.

Wednesday's game can be streamed on ESPN+ and can be listened to Rambler Sports Network with Scott Sudikoff (PXP) and Christian Thomas (Analyst). 

RAMBLINGS
• Loyola opens the week at George Mason after improving to 3-3 in Atlantic 10 play with a win over Fordham last week.
Sheldon Edwards Jr. led the Ramblers with 13 points, a career-high seven assists, and season-best three steals. He drained three from three-point range.
• Loyola shot 52.1 percent from the field against Fordham, which is the seventh game this year the Ramblers shot over 50 percent.
• Edwards Jr. continues to rank in the top-five in the league in three categories. He's second in the A-10 and 75th in the NCAA in three-point percentage (39.3), while his 55 total made threes ranks fifth in the league and 65th in the country. Edwards Jr. is averaging 2.89 makes per game, ranking fourth in the A-10 and 50th in the country.
Miles Rubin moved up to fourth all-time in the program record books with 115 career blocks. He has 39 this season, needing just five more to crack into the single-season top-10 list for the second consecutive year.
• Rubin ranks 22nd in the NCAA with 2.1 blocks per game and 23rd with 39 total blocks.
• The Ramblers have been shooting a second-best 37.1 percent from three-point range since A-10 play tipped off. Through the first six games, Edwards Jr. is shooting 44.7 percent from three.
• Head coach Drew Valentine is in his fourth season at the helm. He has compiled a 70-46 overall record as head coach.

SCOUTING GEORGE MASON
The Patriots are on a five-game win streak and at the top of the league at 6-1. Overall, the squad is 15-5. George Mason's lone A-10 loss of the season came at Rhode Island back on Jan. 4, 62-59. Since conference play opened, GMU has the second-best defense in the league, allowing only 63.6 points per game. The Patriots are also the second-best shooting team, making 46.9 percent of their field goals.

Darius Maddox leads the Patriots in points per game, averaging 14.3. He's been a consistent scorer, putting up double-figures in all but three games. Maddox is currently on a six game double-figure scoring streak that saw a 20-point performance vs. Dayton on Jan. 15

Tony Skinn is in his second season leading the Patriots. He sits at 35-17 at the helm.

SERIES HISTORY
The Ramblers lead the all-time series, 3-1. Loyola beat George Mason 80-59 in the last meeting, which is the largest margin of victory over an A-10 opponent for the Ramblers.
