WASHINGTON – The Loyola University Chicago women's basketball team notched its 10
th win of the season behind a 67-63 triumph over George Washington Sunday afternoon on the road. Four Ramblers scored in double figures, including a season-high 15 points from
Thoranna Kika Hodge-Carr, to fuel the road victory.
"We are so proud of the way we fought and the way we competed," said Loyola Chicago Head Coach
Allison Guth after the win. "We learned about ourselves that there's a little bit of a dog in us, we can fight, and we love that about our team."
How it Happened
Jess Finney connected on a pair of threes to help the Ramblers (10-5, 2-2 Atlantic 10) lead GW, 8-4, with 6:07 to go in the first frame. A few moments later,

Audrey Deptula a bounce pass in the paint where she muscled her way to a score, giving the Maroon and Gold a 12-8 edge.
Emma Theodorsson and
Kira Chivers scored for Loyola Chicago in the first quarter's final minute to give LUC a 16-14 lead after 10 minutes of play.
The hosts found their footing in the second quarter and led Loyola, 22-18, after sinking two three-pointers within the first three minutes of the frame. The Ramblers reclaimed the lead with a dominant 14-4 stretch, fueled by a pivotal 10-0 surge from 4:52 to 1:04. The runs' highlight came at the 2:20 mark when Theodorsson buried a clutch three-pointer from Chivers, forcing George Washington (8-6, 1-2 Atlantic 10) to call a timeout. The Ramblers ended the quarter 55-percent (6-of-11) from the field and owned a 32-29 lead at the intermission.
A back-and-forth third quarter started with Theodorsson cashing in two buckets, including a trey, to give Loyola a 37-31 lead with 8:07 to play in the frame. GW swung momentum its way with triple and a jumper midway through the quarter, giving itself a one-point lead (43-42). However, Chivers matched with a massive three-point basket at 3:22 to give the 'Blers the lead back. Free throws ended the quarter knotted 48-48.
In the fourth and final quarter, the Ramblers did damage at the charity stripe by making 15 free throws to keep distance from the Revolutionaries. The Maroon and Gold scored 19 points in the final quarter—their highest total in any quarter of the game. With Loyola Chicago leading 67-63 after Chivers' free throw with 10 seconds remaining, the LUC defense stood strong and forced a missed shot as time expired.

- The win marked Loyola's first-ever over George Washington. The Ramblers are now 1-3 all-time versus GW. Â
- Hodge-Carr scored a team and season-high 15 points. She was 9-of-10 (90-percent) at the charity stripe.
- Theodorsson was close behind scoring 14 while gathering a trio of rebounds.
- Chivers added 13 points and dished out three assists.
- Jess Finney totaled 12 points to round out the Ramblers top-4 scorers.
- In a game which featured 57 fouls, Loyola was 21-of-27 (79-percent) at the free throw line.
