Loyola Chicago Downs George Washington 3-1

Economos, Rossi mark career-firsts.

CHICAGO -- Back home at Hoyne Field, Loyola Chicago took control in a 3-1 victory over George Washington on Thursday, Oct. 2 for their second Atlantic 10 win.

The Ramblers improved to 7-3-2 overall and 2-2-in A-10 play.

Coach Quotes: Jon Sandoval
"Our mentality tonight was sharp. We've got some injuries, but that also presents opportunities. A lot of players stepped up and played significant minutes that, maybe, they haven't got yet, and when they got that opportunity tonight, they took full advantage of it. We're a few months into this thing, and now they're really getting rewarded for some of that work."

"Anytime you go through a skid or losses, those things can snowball, but when you have a good leadership group, when you have a group that's bought into achieving their goals, they take that challenge head on."

How it Happened

  • Loyola opened scoring in the 34th minute when Zoe Hevey converted on a key pass from Jadyn Harris, marking Hevey's fourth goal of the season and Harris' second assist.
  • The Revolutionaries responded quickly in the second half with an equalizer from Rose Vigran in the 47th minute.
  • 10 minutes later, Harris notched a goal of her own on assists from Hevey and Emily Rossi in the 57th minute to put Loyola ahead, 2-1.
  • The Ramblers extended their lead, 3-1, with a 71st-minute goal from Meghan Economos, the first of her career, assisted by Rossi.

Inside the Box Score

  • Hevey's goal and assist push her to 12 points on the season, matching her rookie season-high 12 points.
  • Rossi's two assists are the firsts-ever of her career.
  • Goalkeeper Allison Deardorff collected four saves.
