Ramblers, Flyers Clash in Gentile

CHICAGO - Loyola Chicago takes on the league leading Dayton squad at home this weekend. The Ramblers are coming off a split at VCU, while the Flyers have yet to drop an A-10 meeting this season. First serve on Friday is 6 p.m., while Saturday's action will start at 2 p.m. in Gentile Arena.

Both matches will be streamed on ESPN+.

QUICK HITS
• Loyola is coming off back-to-back split series v. Davidson and VCU on the road.
• Last weekend at VCU, the Ramblers swept the Rams in match one. Ann Marie Remmes was the lone Rambler in double-digit kills with 11, while Sam Falk recorded five aces and Jae Fitting four.
• In the loss to the Rams, Kaitlyn Burke led the Ramblers with 15 kills, while Remmes added 11, and Kate Maley and Avary DeBlieck had 10 each.
Emma Henry notched a double-double with  48 assists and 13 digs. She's had the starting nod at setter over the last nine games and had 20 or more assists in each match since. Henry also has two more double-doubles in that stretch.
• Falk kept her double-figure digs streak alive to 21 matches this season. She had 16 in the win and 15 in the loss at VCU.
•Loyola's five-set loss at VCU marked the ninth time the Ramblers have gone to five sets this season. Loyola has won five of those matches. In the prior two seasons, Loyola only saw five sets a combined six times.
•DeBlieck ranks 10th in the country with 111 total blocks this season. She currently ranks sixth on the program's single-season records list. The middle blocker has 10 matches this season with five or more blocks, including a season-best 10 blocks at Davidson.
•Falk ranks second in the A-10 and 64th in the country with 350 total digs. Her 4.17 digs per set is third in the A-10 and 82nd in the NCAA.
• As a whole, the Ramblers rank in the nation's top-20 in three categories. They're 14th in assists (1,100), 16th in kills (1,183), and 19th in blocks (212.0).
• Head coach Amanda Berkley is in her eighth season at the helm. Her overall record with the Ramblers is 147-89.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
Dayton enters the weekend at 17-6 overall and undefeated in A-10 play at 12-0. The Flyers face a 5-2 record on the road with losses to No. 23 Utah (Aug. 29) and No. 13 Minnesota (Sept. 13). Dayton ranks 47th in the most recent RPI report and hasn't lost a regular season conference match up since 2022.

The Flyers lead the A-10 in hitting percentage (.243), opponent hitting percentage (.169), and winning percentage (.739).

The team is a balanced effort with five Flyers surpassing 100 kills so far this season. Kamryn Hunt leads Dayton with 305, averaging 3.77 kills per set. She's on a five-match streak with at least 10 kills that was tipped off by a 21-kill outing  at George Washington. She also has two double-doubles with season.

SERIES HISTORY
Loyola leads the all-time series, 16-11. The Ramblers swept the Flyers last season for the Atlantic 10 Championship. The Flyers hadn't lost to an A-10 team since the Ramblers won the 2022 championship, 3-1. It was also the first time Dayton has been swept since Sept. 30, 2022.
