SAINT LOUIS - Loyola Chicago battled back from a 2-1 deficit to beat Saint Louis 3-2 on the road Tuesday night. Three Ramblers landed in double-digit kills to help the Loyola effort.Â
The win moved the Ramblers' record to 7-10 overall and 4-1 in A-10 action.
"Karli, Kaitlyn, and Ann Marie had a great match tonight," said head coach Amanda Berkley. "I thought those three did a good job finding ways to score and putting the ball away. Saint Louis really pushed us and we responded in a big way in the fourth set. I'm proud of the team for pulling off a road win and can't wait to take that momentum into a big weekend at home."
How It Happened
SET 1 | The Ramblers grabbed the first set 25-22 thanks to a solid performance on the attacking end. Loyola put together a .367 attack percentage with 15 kills in the set victory. The Ramblers opened up a 19-10 lead in the stanza and coasted to victory from there. Three Ramblers had at least three kills and were led by Kaitlyn Burke who had five in the set.
SET 2 | Loyola fell in the second set 25-15 to even the match 1-1. Loyola trailed by as many as 10 points as Saint Louis grabbed the advantage for good at 6-5 in a set that was knotted up three times before the Billikens took over the lead.
SET 3 | Loyola then dropped their second set in a row, falling behind in the match two sets to one. The Ramblers came up short by the score of 25-21. Loyola trailed by as many as eight points as Saint Louis grabbed the advantage for good at 9-8 in a set that was knotted up six times before the Billikens took over the lead. Karli Molnau led the attack with four kills for Loyola.
SET 4 | Loyola broke their two set losing streak and forced a fifth set with a 25-21 victory in set number four. A strong performance on the attacking side led the Ramblers to victory in the set. Loyola registered a .452 attack percentage with 16 kills in the set win. The Ramblers opened up a 23-16 lead in the stanza and coasted to victory from there. Loyola Chicago got a solid defensive performance from a front row that blocked four Saint Louis attacks. Burke kept momentum going with six more kills, while Molnau added five.Â
SET 5 | Loyola rallied and took the match with a fifth set victory. The Ramblers grabbed control of the set-five lead at 3-2 and held it the rest of the way. Loyola led by as many as seven points at 12-5 before finishing off the set, totaling nine kills without notching an attack error along the way. Molnau tallied another four kills.
Game Notes
- Burke led Loyola with 16 kills. She added one dig and three blocks.

- Emma Henry had a match-high 37 assists.
