Ramblers Back at Home Versus George Washington For Pink Game

Tip-off set for 6 p.m. CT on ESPN+

CHICAGO - The Loyola University Chicago women's basketball team returns home after a two-game road stint and hosts George Washington. Tip-off is slated for 6 p.m. on ESPN+ with Scott Sudikoff (play by play) and Stephond Robinson (commentary) calling the game.

PROMOTION
  • The team will host its annual Pink Game against George Washington, dedicated to raising breast cancer awareness. Fans are encouraged to wear pink!
QUICK HITS
  • With five regular season games left on the schedule, the Ramblers (11-13, 3-10 Atlantic 10) host the Revolutionaries inside Gentile this Wednesday.
  • The 'Blers aim to complete a season sweep against George Washington this week, hosting GW in Rogers Park for the second game of their home-and-home series.
  • Loyola has four home-and-home Atlantic 10 opponents this season: Saint Louis, Dayton, George Washington, and VCU.
  • The Maroon and Gold have swept both ends of an A-10 home-and-home series once since joining the league: Massachusetts last season.
  • Most recently, Loyola Chicago was upended by Laura Ziegler and her Saint Joseph's squad, 83-45, in Philly on Super Bowl Sunday.
  • Despite losing, LUC showed strength in a few categories. Loyola's bench was equal with the Hawks', scoring 16 points. Additionally, the Ramblers led, 6-4, in second-chance points.
  • The Maroon and Gold fired off 57 shots while SJU had 55.
  • With Loyola back at full strength for the first time this season, Roisin Grandberry earned her first-career start in the game.
  • Following Wednesday, Loyola stays home for a matchup with Duquesne this Saturday (Feb. 15). 
RAMBLER BITES
  • Five letterwinners return to the roster, including two starters. The Ramblers welcome 10 newcomers, including six freshman and four transfers.
  • Head coach Allison Guth is in her third season at the helm of Loyola. 2024-25 is her ninth year as a head coach after spending the first six seasons at Yale.
  • Loyola Chicago's nine-win improvement from 2022-23 to 2023-24 was the second best turnaround in the Atlantic 10.
  • The Ramblers named returners Sitori Tanin, Thoranna Kika Hodge-Carr, and Kira Chivers team captains for the 2024-25 season.
  • A trio of 2023-24 Ramblers inked professional contracts overseas this past summer: Emma Nolan (Bad Homburg, Germany), Sophia Nolan (Dillingen Diamonds, Germany), and Sam Galanopoulos (Esperides Kallitheas, Greece). There are now seven former Ramblers who have played pro basketball.
SCOUTING THE GEORGE WASHINGTON REVOLUTIONARIES
  • Head Coach Caroline McCombs is in her fourth season in D.C. and holds a 54-62 record. She's 130-76 (.631) throughout her seven-year career.
  • GW carries a two-game win streak into its trip to the Windy City, having most recently downed Fordham and St. Bonaventure.
  • Makayla Andrews led the offense with 15 points and nine rebounds. She's scored in double figures in four-straight games for George Washington.
  • Andrews (11.6) and Gabby Reynolds (10.4) lead the team in scoring averaging double digit points per game.
  • On defense, Sara Lewis and Paige Mott lead the team in rebounds with 5.9 rebounds per game.
ALL-TIME AGAINST GEORGE WASHINGTON
  • Loyola recorded its first-ever win over GW this past January, beating the Revolutionaries, 67-63, on the road.
  • The Ramblers are 1-3 all-time versus George Washington and 0-1 when playing at home.
  • In the win, Thoranna Kika Hodge-Carr scored a team and season-high 15 points. She was 9-of-10 (90-percent) at the charity stripe.
  • Emma Theodorsson was close behind scoring 14 while gathering a trio of rebounds.
  • Kira Chivers added 13 points and dished out three assists.
  • Jess Finney totaled 12 points to round out the Ramblers top-4 scorers.
  • In a game which featured 57 fouls, Loyola was 21-of-27 (79-percent) at the free throw line.
  • GW's 30 fouls are tied for the most committed by an A-10 team in a single game this season, while Loyola's 27 rank as the fourth-most.
LAST TIME OUT
  • Loyola was upended, 83-45, by Saint Joseph's Sunday at Hagan Arena. Naelle Bernard led the Ramblers' efforts with a 12-point performance while Sitori Tanin neared a double-double, scoring 10 and grabbing seven rebounds.
