Ramblers Prep for Last Regular Season Road Series

LEADING OFF 
Loyola Chicago (15-30, 10-10 A-10) travels to George Mason for its final Atlantic 10 road series of the regular season. The Ramblers face the Patriots in a doubleheader on Saturday, April 26 at 11 am and 1:30 p.m. CT followed by the series closer on Sunday, April 27 at 11 a.m. CT. 

QUICK HITS 

  • Loyola is coming off a 3-0 series sweep at UMass which marked the Ramblers' third conference series sweep of the season. They shut out the Minutewomen, 5-0, in the opener, took the second game, 6-5, and finished with a 12-3 victory in the finale.  
  • At UMass, rookie Alli Pawlowicz hit a homer in each game of the doubleheader and combined for six RBIs. She leads the team with seven home runs, good for fifth in the league, and is the team leader in RBIs (23). 
  • In the series closer against the Minutewomen, the Ramblers recorded a season-high 14 hits after five different players registered multi-hit games. Senior outfielder Riley Owens led the team with a 3-for-5 effort while sophomore catcher Nat Lesnicki went 3-for-4 for a season-high. Freshman Averi Vander Woude recorded a career-high two hits.  
  • Senior second baseman Haley Wallace leads the team in hits with 42 and in doubles with 11 while junior outfielder Sierra Sass is the team leader at the plate with a .327 batting average. Sass ranks second in the league in stolen bases per game (0.58) which puts her No. 29 in the country.  
  • Senior pitcher Peyton Pepkowski ranks second in the A-10 and 46th in the NCAA with 124 strikeouts.    
  • Pepkowski recorded her 600th career strikeout against Saint Joseph's (March 22), becoming just the second Rambler in program history to do so.    
  • Head coach Alicia Abbott clinched her 100th career win in the Maroon and Gold after Loyola defeated St. John's, 2-1, on Feb. 14 in walk-off fashion.         

SCOUTING REPORT 
George Mason (18-30, 9-11 A-10) is coming off a 6-1 midweek victory over Mount St. Mary's. Prior to, the Patriots were swept by the Saint Louis Billikens to mark their third conference series loss. George Mason clinched its first A-10 series victory over Rhode Island then swept St. Bonaventure and won its last league series against Saint Joseph's.  

In the conference, junior infielder Tess Altevers Harris leads the A-10 with seven triples, good for fourth in the country, and junior outfielder Elyssa DeRosa is right behind Harris with six, ranking her third in the conference. Another junior Kamryn Inman is fourth in the league with 20 (0.48/game) stolen bases. As a unit, the Patriots are No. 1 in the conference in total stolen bases (81) and triples (18). George Mason is ranked fourth in home runs (22) and in earned run average (3.46). 

SERIES HISTORY 
The Ramblers lead the all-time series with the Patriots 6-5, with their first meeting coming in February 2020. In the first series as A-10 opponents in March 2023, George Mason took the series, 2-1, and later that year in the post-season, the Patriots knocked out the Ramblers in the A-10 Championship. Most recently, Loyola won its first series against George Mason last season in Chicago.
