Loyola Chicago Falls to Davidson

CHICAGO -- Loyola Chicago racked up 11 blocks in a 3-0 loss to Davidson inside Gentile Arena on Saturday, Oct. 17. The Ramblers moved to 10-9 overall and 7-2 in Atlantic 10 play after the loss.

Sophomore outside hitter Leyna Nguyen finished with 15 kills on .382 hitting to lead Loyola's attack. Two Ramblers recorded double-figure digs; junior libero Sam Falk and sophomore setter Mya Ball each had 11. From the front row, junior middle Chloe Morgan led Loyola with five blocks.

Coach Quote: Amanda Berkley
"Hats off to Davidson. They're always a challenging team to play because their defense is really good; they keep plays alive, and we struggled to find a way to put away the ball against them. We gave up too many errors, and couldn't find ways to score. This is going to be a growing moment for us. We're going to work on our confidence, intensity and finding ways to get kills against a double block."

How It Happened
SET 1 | The Ramblers started out rocky before clawing back from a seven-point hole, but the Wildcats held on to win the opening set 25-23.

SET 2 | Loyola dropped set two 25-19, trailing by as many as nine points. Nguyen shed some light in the set, racking up six kills while hitting above .400.

SET 3 | It was a back-and-forth battle in the third and final frame, which saw 17 tied scores and seven lead changes. Neither side led by more than three points throughout, and Davidson won in extras, 27-25, to secure its first A10 match of the season.
