Loyola Chicago Shuts Out Duquesne, 2-0

CHICAGO -- Loyola Chicago got a pair of goals from fifth-year Olivia Beam and senior Maggie Schmidt in a 2-0 shutout win against Duquesne on Sunday, Oct. 18 at Loyola Soccer Park. The Ramblers improved to 6-2-7 overall and 3-0-4 in Atlantic 10 play with the victory.

"The first goal is always the hardest, and while we had some really good service leading up to the first goal, we lacked lacked some commitment and desire to get our spots in the box. We talked about that at halftime, committing ourselves more and Maggie Schmidt was able to do that, getting to a really good spot and securing the game winner for us," said head coach Jon Sandoval.

How it Happened
After a scoreless first half, Loyola broke open the scoring as Schmidt notched her fourth goal of the season in the 55th minute, assisted by her senior counterpart Zoe Hevey. The Ramblers added another score in the 63rd minute on Beam's first goal of the year, assisted by fifth-year Emily Roberts and sophomore Ava Fleming.

The Ramblers held on to secure the shutout and third A10 victory this season.
